There is no place like home

Image
Written by: MARY Meng                  In the 21th century, every country in the world is trying to decorate the attractive places or tourist sites to attract local people and people throughout the world to visit. When people visit there, they truly feel happy and excited; however, the happy face and the excited feeling do not cause them to live there forever because it is not their home. The reason is just because it is not their home, so there is a doubtful question asked “Why is there no place like home?” There is no place like home The first reason is that home is where there are people we love, family.  Staying home, we have family to support us both physical and mental. Moreover, you are able to choose your team that is the best with you. Let me give you an example. When you work in teamwork for a company, you may hear th

Ways to be an Effective Listener

I'm not own this photo. Written by: MARY Meng To be an effective listener, you have to follow eight steps. The first step is preparing to listen. You have to concentrate on what the speaker says, not just hear and forget. The second step is avoiding pre-judgement. You, the listener, have to avoid pre-judge the speaker’s appearance or occupation, or jump to any conclusions before hearing what the speaker says. The third step is being open-minded. Although you are listening to what you would not like to hear, you have to keep listening and appreciate the speaker’s point of view. The fourth step is establishing eye contact. To show that you are listening carefully to the speaker, you have to make eye contact. The fifth step is watching for signals. You have to watch the speaker’s posture and gesture, and listen to intonation in the speaker’s words because sometimes these aspects could mean something that the speaker considers important. The sixth step is extracting main points. You

Written by: MARY Meng Nick Collard, a former student who graduated bachelor degree of Business Studies at the University of Portsmouth Business School, and now the Commercial Director at Boots the Chemist, once said “I have been lucky enough to have a successful career and in my mind a key factor in this was the placement year at Sainsbury’s head office.
